I knew before the game started, It was going to be a special night, my final game in pinstripes. when I saw Derrick and Andy walking to the mound to take me out I was overcome with so many feelings. The Lord has blessed me with an incredible career, one filled with many memories with my teammates and the Yankees fans. As I walked off the field, I wanted to soak in as much as I could, because this was it for me as a baseball player, I thought about all the moments that I have shared with so many special people. I started my career with the Yankees on May 23, 1995, tonight over 18 years later I was leaving baseball as a five time world, champion, MLB all-time saves leader.I was leaving the game on my terms not because of injury or diminished skills. I was leaving the game. I love the way I wanted as a Yankee.
